Sam Redmore Interview

We are beyond excited for this bank holiday weekend because we are relaunching Soul Food Soundsystem in a big way at The Church. We have got our favourite DJ Sam Redmore on the decks all night long so we thought we should sit down and ask him a few questions before we let him loose.

Q. Sum up your DJ style in food.

A. Maybe some kind of all you can eat buffet. There’s a whole heap heap of different dishes on offer, I just do my best to select the ones that work together and then feed you up until you’re full.

Q. If you could cover/remix any song what would it be?

A. Hmmm…. so many to choose from. Most of my absolutely favourite songs I’d probably leave well alone, but I’d love to get the parts and have a crack at reworking Loleatta Holloway’s “Catch Me On The Rebound” –

Q. What’s the one record you couldn’t live without?

A. Quite possible Sebastien Tellier “La Ritournelle”

I’m not sure how I got by before it was made.

Q: If you could create a soul food burger what would be on it?

A: Well I’ve been known to rustle up a tasty beef burger with caramelised red onions, bacon and lettuce with goats cheese melted on top. Not sure it would meet Soul Food exemplary standards though!

That sounds like a badboy of a burger. Thanks Sam.
