FAQs

1). What is Soul Food ?
Soul Food is traditionally based on the cuisine of the Southern States of America (specifically Louisiana / Georgia). In a nutshell it is food that the poor communities of these states created from next to nothing. Dishes, that are now world famous, such as the meat gumbo were made from the cheapest cuts of meats and slow cooked all throughout the day to get the most our of their otherwise tough nature. You might say it’s peasant food, but it’s so much more than that, it’s food that is cooked and crafted with care, passion and depth of knowledge of the food being cooked with.

2). What is Lagniappe ?
‘Lagniappe’ is a famous phase in N’Awlins, which orignates from Spanish / Cajun settlers in the area, meaning ‘a little extra’. Nowhere is this more apparent than in Soul Food, where all food is bursting with all sorts of meats, vegetables, herbs, spices to offer you a little more for your money !

3). Are Soul Food Available for outside events  ?
Yes, in fact we love doing outside events and the more challenging the better! We’ve hosted tonnes of events from ‘festival tents with Soul Food DJs and chefs, weddings with a twist and classic finger food for networking shows.

4). Can you book Soul Food DJs?
Yes you can and we’re very reasonably priced :) , If you’re after DJ’s playing Queen, Abba and Rihanna (not that there’s anything wrong with Rihanna!), we’re not for you, but if you fancy a party with some heavy afro funk, disco, reggae, soul and tropical grooves then we’re your boys.
