Position – Assistant GM

Location – The Church

Pay – £18-21K depending on experience + tips and bonus

Start date – late July 2015

Hours – approx 45 per week

Job description – 

The Church is a busy pub that thrives on being a hub for creative events, new and interesting music, offering a wide and diverse drinks selection and a kitchen churning out a deep south menu using fresh ingredients. Working alongside a talented and experienced GM , you will be heading up the Soul Food Project HQ and a large team who need guidance, training and structure which needs to come from the top.  A heavy focus of this role will be your drinks knowledge, as will be your organisation and ability to deal with diverse events throughout our calendar. We need an individual who is looking to progress in the hospitality industry and has the get up and go attitude that we strive for. Working in the food and drink industry can be fun and we aim to make it so, so we are looking for someone who can work well, but can do it while having a dance behind the bar!

What we ask you to have: 

  • The ability to legally work in the UK
  • Be over 18 years old
  • Flexible with working hours (you will be working weekend nights)
  • Full understanding of the English language
  • Management experience of at least 12 months in the hospitality industry
  • Bar tending experience

  • A good knowledge of all drink styles including cocktails

  • Leading a strong passionate team of chefs, bartenders and floor staff
  • Working in a high pressure environment where only the best is good enough
  • Working to a seasonal menu both with food and drink
  • Preparing the menu with fresh seasonal products
  • Keeping a clean pub in line with company policy and EHO guidelines
  • Leading by example
  • Working under GM who expects you to deliver
  • Stock taking and control
  • Hiring and rota scheduling
  • Last but not least, being creative! We don’t hire robots we hire people
